Matthew Guminski, a Boston Massachusetts native and resident of Astoria New York, is a Lighting / Production Designer, Lighting Director, Programer and owner of MG Lighting Design. Throughout his career he has worked for various styles and sizes of shows including Theatre, Dance, Industrial, Corporate and Concert Design and Direction.

Matt's theatrical career began in 2003 immediately after he graduated from College. His work has been seen at such theatres as: Cape Fear Regional Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Foothills Theatre Company, University of Maine (Orono), The Wick Theatre, Allenberry Playhouse, Timberlake Playhouse, Winnipesaukee Playhouse, New Repertory Theatre, Seven Angels Theatre, 45th Street Theatre, The Theatre at St. Clements, Molloy College, White Plains Performing Arts Center and theatrically designed touring shows include Odd Squad Live! and Bring It Live! both produced by Mills Entertainment.

Matt began his touring career as the Touring Lighting Designer for the Moscow Ballet’s 2008 productions of Sleeping Beauty & The Nutcracker. In 2010, Matt served as the Lighting Director on The National Tour of The Wizard of Oz. A Year later he became the Touring Lighting Designer of Mercury & Island DefJam recording artists Neon Trees. He has continued to tour with various artists including The Cult, Alice in Chains, Evanescence, JoJo, Jon Bellion, Bush, Young The Giant, MisterWives, David Garrett, Maroon 5, Nick Jonas, CeeLo Green, Percy Hill and Assembly of Dust.

In addition to theatre and touring Matt has had a hand in designing and/or programming several industrial and corporate events for London Based Renegade Design, 4Wall Boston & New York, New York based ATD Audio Visual, New York based Wizard Studio, Imagination Americas New York and Detroit offices, and the Milwaukee based Studio Gear LLC. As an Associate Designer for the Boston based lighting design firm Testa Lighting Design, he had the opportunity to work along side the owner on several Industrial/Corporate events as well as the Architectural & Entertainment lighting design for Jordan's Furniture in Reading Massachusetts. Additionally he has served as the moving lights programmer for Tyler Perry's MADEA ON THE RUN.

Matt is a eight time recipient of the New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Professional Lighting Design. PROOF (2006), THE WOMAN IN BLACK (2007), TWO ROOMS (2008), THE GLASS MENAGERIE (2009), AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (2010), SHIPWRECKED! (2012), THE FANTASTICKS (2014), and THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER (2015) – all presented at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Laconia NH.

He holds a BFA in Lighting Design from Boston University. Matt is a Parnelli NextGen nominee as well as a Live Design magazine Design Achievement award nominee for MisterWives “No Place Like Home” Tour. He also serves as a Beta Tester for High End Systems Hog 4 Software Development and is a certified ETC/HES console trainer for the Hog 4 platform. Matt is a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.
